The course is designed to review and consolidate the content acquired during the basic course. The modules designed for training are the same as those of the BLSD Basic course but focus more on practical activities.

The certificate issued by the basic course is valid for life. Despite this, international guidelines recommend that refresher courses be run at least every two years to keep the population trained and updated on developments in cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The refresher course provides for the revision of all the topics carried out during the basic course with particular emphasis on the practical aspect, of fundamental importance in case of cardio-circulatory arrest.

• Introduction to cardiopulmonary resuscitation
• Chest compression technique
• Mechanical ventilation (mouth to mouth and pocket mask)
• Using a Semi-Automatic External Defibrillator (AED)
• BLSD sequence
• Airway obstruction
• Pediatric resuscitation
